The David Letterman Scholarships was established in the year 1985. This scholarship is open to college juniors and seniors attending Ball State University and majoring in radio, television and telecommunications.

The goal of the scholarship is assist average students who have a creative mind. Winners are selected primarily based on creativity.
Under this program three (3) scholarships are awarded every year.

Following is the benefits of the David Letterman Scholarship:
- The Scholarship Winner receives a $10,000.
- The first runner-up receives $5,000 and
- The second runner-up receives $3,333.
Qualifications for Scholarship
The qualifications required to apply for this Scholarship are as follows:
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be full-time student and
- Grades are not a criterion,
